About theCoalition

The coalition was formed during a time of heightened uncertainty for South Africa and its economy. Our work to rebuild the alcohol industry has now begun and our aim is to support South Africa’s recovery and continue to protect the livelihoods of our people. We see this as the start of a new social and economic compact between all partners with an absolute focus on shared prosperity

The Liquor industry has and will continue to work with the Government to implement safety protocols addressing COVID-19 transmission risks. We have also offered to leverage our extensive distribution and retail networks nationwide in support of efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19.

The industry is also committed to ramping up its societal advocacy and behavioural change interventions to foster a healthier relationship with alcohol. Our aim is to identify problem areas—based on research and credible current data—and jointly design interventions.
